Ray takes The Dream Catcher Appeal to new heights

Pictured above is Mr Ray Johnstone Dream Catcher’s official superstar of 2012.
Mr Johnstone is a retired social worker and this year had decided to put his newly found free time to good use and hopes to raise a whopping amount for The Dream Catcher Appeal by reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Over the last few months i have worked very closely with Mr Johnstone and whilst putting in the hours for training and funding the cost of the trip from his own pocket he is determined that he will raise his target of £5000.00.
Ray suffers from Post-traumatic stess disorder as a result of his past experiences of being in the Army and is hoping to raise awareness of the condition whilst planning his trip.
Ray is looking forward to the challange which entails climbing a 5,895 metre summit of Mount Kilimanjarno in Tanzania with a group of fellow trekkers from the UK.
Ray likes the scope of The Dream Catcher Appeal in the fact that all monies raised and donated provide goods and services for people and charities only on the Isle Of Man and this is why he has decided to donate all funds raised on this trip to this wonderful cause.

The Dream Catcher Appeal would like to Thank Mr Ben Hartley and The gang of West End Gold for planning such a fantastic night and allowing The Dream Catcher Appel to hold a bucket collextion at the end of the evening.
The turn out for the event was fantastic and as always the public gave very generously to a whopping sum of £709.36p.

Heroes in the community 2011

The real Heroes of our Manx community came out in force on Oct 7th 2011 at The Empress Hotel to celebrate and be rewarded for their bravery, hardwork and help to others during day to day lives.
12 winners recieved trophies ranging from Bravest Youngster to foster carer of the year and a great night was had by all.
Pictured below is our winner and star of the evening Mian Bobby Watterson whom for his bravery through his illness (Immune Thrombocytopenia ITP) recieved the award for the Child of courage (under 10)

MSPCA application granted

The homeless dog of the MSPCA will be keeping warm and cosy this winter as the committe have granted the charity the cost of some special veterinary bedding to keep the dogs comfy and warm during their stay at the animal shelter.
We are expecting their new bedding to arrive intime for xmas and will be heading up for a visit and some nice snaps of the lovely pooches very soon.

Quiz and darts competition raises money in Peel

For the second year The Manx Radio Dream Catcher Appeal has benifited from the proceeds of a quiz night held in the Peel Legion Club and a darts competition held in The Peveril Public House.
We would like to thank the family of Darren Self who arranged these event for The Dream Catcher Appeal in his memory after he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident some years ago.

We would like to thank you kindly for your donation of £625.00 and we can assure you this money will be wisely spent on deserving causes across the Island.

The Douglas store of M&Co and Wendy Cambell of Image Matters have supported the Dream Catcher Appeal Throughout the year 2011 hosting fashow show all over the island.
With Thanks to the store they have supported us in raising over £3500.00.

Ballaquayle School

A very different application came into The Dream Catcher Appeal from the head of Ballaqauyle school back in April asking if Dream Catcher could grant a wish of the children at the school for a footpath to lead to their school playing field.
The was currently no footpath from the school to the field and so in the winter months this area would be out of bounds to students without welly boots or a very mess trek through the mud.
Many companies had helped with digging out the footpath and donating funds but there was still a shortfall in funds for the project.
The comittee agreed that by providing the funds for the materials the path could get underway and so this wish was granted.
Below are some of the pictures from the opening of the footpath for which Dream Catcher were delighted to go along to.

Elton John auction £561.00

Congratulations and Thank you to Claire Bettison who was the highest bidder in our auction for front row Elton John tickets she brought the bid to £561.00 in the last 10 minutes of the auction and bought herself a fantastic seat to see The Rocket Man himself.
