The Friends of Chernobyl’s Children
The Friends of Chernobyl’s Children had another busy Summer looking after and entertaining its visitors from Belarus. The Charity has been in existence since 1994 and devotes its energies to raising funds to bring children, who are at risk, to the Island for a month every year. The charity targets children from disadvantaged homes, aged between seven and twelve. These children are in great need and come from social situations that make it difficult for them to get the care they require at home.
The Charity’s aim is to relieve the suffering of children affected by the radiation explosion from the nuclear plant at Chernobyl. So to do this they go horse riding, swimming, visit the Laxey Wheel, they make butter and weave wool amongst plenty of other things. But the Manx Radio Dream Catcher Appeal decided to treat them to a slap up meal after we received an application from the Charity.
The children have since returned home but had a fantastic time and loved the friendly people of the Isle of Man. We hope you enjoyed the meal and see you next time!!
